OCR and barcode recognition

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is the technical term for the automatic recognition of printed characters by means of optical detection (e.g. by scanner). With OCR, scanned text can be converted into editable formats and processed further. Simple OCR formats can be used in IQ4docs license-free and without further costs).

A powerful feature here is the recognition of text sections via regular expressions. For example, the term "invoice number" can be searched for on a complete page and the value after it (i.e. the actual invoice number) can be recognized automatically.

In addition, 1D barcodes (barcodes) or 2D barcodes (matrix codes such as the QR code) can also be recognized and read. The contents of text or barcode zones on a page can then be used in the workflow (e.g. as a decision, metafile content, file or directory name...).
